Part II – Strategy of deads

“Listen, don’t eat me, Ok! Don’t do, Ok! I will not stand any longer. Don’t touch me!”

Faceless Austarche and thoughtful Po-Pso viewed the  loaf that stuck in the dark corner and was crying hysterically.

“It looks like working,” concluded Austarche emotionlessly.

“But “it” does not look emotionally stable, god damned!” Po-Pso voiced his fears in return.

“Recall yourself during the first minutes. For some time after rising there is the adaptation period of the intruder consciousness to new substance and it’s memory. The balance of the fears and wishes absorbed before revival  is being adjusted,” continued Dead King. “By some reason I know that.”

“It means that my assumption while waking up about Your being a pervert comes from my fears  when I was living?” wondered Po-Pso.

“Or secret wishes. Have noticed anything similar?”

“Surely, I have not.”

“Sure?”

“I do swear by that loaf!”

“Wishes and fears are of the same nature. In the essence they are two sides of a coin. I know that because I have become wiser than I used to be. I am overwhelmed with knowledge but even I have never supposed that deads are able to be bashful. In fact the residual memory has powerful influence on the lifted. Look at Po-Pso.who blushed during my philosophical dispute,” Austarche speculated aloud.

“They kept having the idea to eat me! I hate them and will never forgive them that, I – I – I will be eating them by myself,” was hissing aggressively in the corner the piece of baked duff just revived.  “Yea!!! It’s time to step on hunting ground.”

“Come up to me,” uttered Austarche in calm, cold and categorical tone of voice. “It’s an order.”

A creature that might have been called a bread rolled out of the dark corner of the tomb. Only now the loaf, once being harmless, became possessor of round wicked browless eyes, huge hunched nose and equally huge mouth filled with thin, long and curved teeth.

“Who are you?” icy question of the Dead King was followed by the  equally chilling look.

“I am soulless creature that has become sensible, my King,” there was resigned answer in murmur.

“Ok, stop, cancel,” Austarche felt consciousness blurring because of such way of questioning his subordinates. He understood that for such kind of contacts one should have a store of personal power he had not enough at that moment but he had spent all of it to talk to Po-Pso.

“Oh, again, this awful chill,” gave voice the Fatty, shivering.

“Slapped on indeed, surely,” confirmed the loaf.

“I will try to explain you, your majesty,” the loaf again descended to sinister  whisper. “Actually I am common zombie-loaf. I have no name. But I have plans and my plans are pretty palatable.”

“Your plans will be the ones which I will tell you. Honestly I still don’t have any  strategy.”

“Dead King, without goal and the strategy to achieve it our existence becomes senseless. And without a sense we are to dissolve in Chaos, that is the order of the Insilentium,” said Po-Pso with clever view, raising up his figure which resembled  a century sausage.

“I had a lot of court wise men but you are the most picturesque,” Austarche’s face showed no emotion during this compliment.

“The point I am sure in is that I am the most original among the others,” grind Po-Pso and kicked slightly his gut.

“So, here is your task for the first time, philosopher – pendulum,” said Austarche, looking at the part of the gullet, swinging between the fatty’s legs. “And you, loaf,” he moved his look.“You are to get out of the tomb and run away in different directions to look for knowledge, no matter what kind of knowledge – country, inhabitants, mysteries, and finally you will look into yourself. All of us are united by one question – a kind of our mission, rather – of my mission.  Your mission is clear – to make for my task to be fulfilled. Well, if to make long story short, I have got bored of your society and I want to be alone. In general, your way is to there,” Dead King pointed to the exit.

“By the way,” added Austarche in conclusion. “Your former fears became your power. You, Po-Pso, used to walk slowly and was afraid that your soft carcass could be torn by wild animals. Now you run faster and set up quickly too. And you, loaf, the more you eat the stronger you become.”

“Can I hunt after those who caused so many suffers to me and my relatives?” asked the loaf rolling his eyes.

“Do what you want,” answered Austarche.“I used to be kind and bright already but nothing good came out of that. Now we are dark and wicked.”

A bit later Dead King came out of the tomb and looked around. Old cemetery was leaning on the forest at one side and outlooked the horizon at the other side. Heavy traces pressed deeply into the soil going towards the sun witnessed that Po-Pso had gone into the dusk while sounds of battle, curses and women’s squeal from the side of forest witnessed that the loaf had rolled in that direction and had stepped on the war ground.

“Where have I got?” thought Austarche. The sequence of explosions got heard from the forest. Not paying attention to the sounds of the first vendetta in the loaf history, the Dead King was looking at the setting sun.

“What is it Insellentium? And who are the creatures naming themselves a human?” Austarche asked himself aloud, then he turned around and stepped back into the dissolving darkness of the tomb.
